BIG UPS BOISS!

It really seems like every DJ is playing all the same tracks they download from the same blogs or forums. I havent gave the mix a listen but judging from the track listing its the same tracks everyone else is playing and posting.

Is this the downfall of creative DJing?

[ like the blog by the way..great posts ]

SLAMMIN MIX

I don't recognize any tracks from other blogs, perhaps some of the artists you hear about often but most of these are new to me

Anonymous #1. Yes, I agree. There is a total lack of imagination evident in 95% of the mixes we see on the net today. Most mixes suffer from hitparade and blogincest-syndromes and tracklists tend to be monotone and noncreative.

Nevertheless, this is the first entry in our mix-series and we wanted to play it safe. A lot of the tracks on it have been covered on this blog already and it feels very 'Risky Bizniz'. A perfect way to start a mix-series. We are taking it from here and other people assigned to make mixes featured after this one have been encouraged to surprise us and be individual and crazy.

So, to the people not super-updated on the blog-scene mixes, download this turn up the volume and let the Risky Rave begin!!!

Evan and the Jokers have done a great job on this one.

And thanks for the complements!

to quote the Anonymous ...

"DJ is playing all the same tracks they download from the same blogs or forums. "

i'd be very suprised if "the bald & the beautiful - double dutchin'", is from a blog..

this is a great tracklist..90 % of good club music is now blogged, and if you didnt play popular blogged tracks from time to time, you'll turn into an introverted minimal DJ, who plays music to inflate one's ego, rather than forget about what the job is, which is TO MAKE PEOPLE DANCE!!"

and in response to the Anonymous, yep you have a point with your comment as an overall statement, but with regards to this mix, i personally think your wrong..i say good day, and

keep it regal!

Lately, there's been increased debate – among DJs, peeps posting to Stillepost.ca and in these very pages for example – about what makes a DJ good. Is it having the right tunes (whether on vinyl, CD or MP3) or knowing how to play them? Are irony, fashion sense and an ability to draw dozens to hundreds of “friends” to your gigs more important than programming and mixing skills, especially in this time of trendy indie parties? Well kids, here you get it all as Ottawa's Jokers of the Scene, a.k.a. DJs Booth and Chameleonic, guest at Full Effect. Their mixing skills are as tight as their tunes and 'tudes. Go hear how it's meant to be done.

i might be alittle late on this one but i am six hours away.
jokers of the scene have good taste and excellent skill. they know what and when to play or drop it. anyoen can have tracks thanks to blogs but if they do not want to play them they can erly on the many online and physical shops. if blogs post similar tracks it means that these tracks for many people are good tracks and i'm sure the artists don't mind. it is positive feedback. haters need to chill.
you cannot tell me that it does not make you want to rage!end of story
